Group Therapy: Connection, Skills, and Support, together

Children's hands playing with colorful slime and dough on a white surface.

Children and teens often feel alone in their struggles, but group therapy provides a powerful reminder that they are not. At Pure Wellness Therapy, our small, closed groups offer a safe and welcoming space for kids to connect with peers, build coping skills, and practice healthy communication in a supportive environment.

Group therapy can help children and adolescents who are experiencing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, social challenges, or big emotions. For many kids, being surrounded by peers who “get it” is both healing and empowering.

How Our group therapy WorkS

  • Small and Supportive: Groups are capped at 10 participants to ensure everyone feels heard and cared for.

  • Closed Format: Each group runs for a set number of weeks with the same participants throughout, helping kids build trust and comfort.

  • Age-Specific: Groups are tailored to developmental stages, with separate options for elementary, middle, and high school students.

  • Focused Topics: Each group centers on a theme, such as anxiety, mindfulness, social skills, or confidence-building.

  • Our group therapy programs change seasonally, but some examples include:

    • Confidence in Bloom (Elementary School): Builds self-confidence, teaches boundary-setting, and incorporates self-care through activities like journaling and meditation.

    • Middle School Girls’ Group: Focuses on navigating friendships, building confidence, and handling the unique challenges of adolescence.

    • Worry Group (Elementary Age): Helps children learn to manage anxiety, calm their minds, and find healthy coping strategies.

    • Mindful Movement Group (Teens & Middle School): Combines mindfulness, meditation, and gentle yoga to promote stress relief and self-care.

    • Teen Check-In Group: A space for adolescents to learn DBT skills, practice mindfulness, and connect with others navigating the ups and downs of teen life.

*Caregiver support groups are also offered.

    • Children learn they are not alone in their experiences.

    • Groups provide a chance to practice new skills with peers in real time.

    • Sessions foster empathy, communication, and problem-solving.

    • Parents can feel reassured knowing their child is gaining both support and community.
