National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) -Massachusetts
NAMI offers support groups and COMPASS Helpline, and has an online resource for Navigating a Mental Health Crisis. The NAMI Peer-to-Peer is an 8-week free recovery-focused program for people who want to establish and maintain their wellness. The leaders of these groups have been through the program and will offer activities, discussions, and informative videos. Great focus is placed on each individual’s experiences, and participants are empowered to share their stories and coping tools that worked for them to benefit others in the group.
Parent/Professional Advocacy League (PPAL), 866-815-8122,
PPAL is an organization for parents, by parents, whose children also have emotional or behavioral concerns. They can help you connect with another family facing similar concerns, both to offer emotional support and information about support services that can help. Their website lists information and resources, including support groups. They host Monday afternoon visits with advocates, offering practical help around school accommodations for emotional well-being.
